Well I'm not sure if anybody has thought of this before, but I realized a perfect opportunity to ask a landowner for permission to hunt there property. Garage saling! This would be of course be for old houses in town. You could drive around in the summer time and look for garage sales. When you find one that is at an older style house you have the landowner sitting in a lawn chair right in the garage. This makes a perfect opportunity to ask for permission to hunt there yard! You can be personal and talk right to their face as opposed to letters and calling them on the phone. I haven't tried this out yet, but I will be this friday so I'll have to give an update on how many new spots I have to hunt. I live in an area with a lot of older houses and I guess it dawned on me that what better time to ask a landowner then when they are right there. Let me know what you guys think and if anybody has had any success doing this. _________________ Clad Counter 2010

A little late than never, but I finally got out yesterday to give this a shot. Out of the two houses that looked old that I asked at one gave me a yes right away and the other I gave my number seeing as it's her mothers house and she wasn't around. I was going to metal detect the one house today, but just my luck it's raining! I'm still waiting to hear back from the other house, but I have my fingers crossed. It looks like a dandy. I also have my fingers cross for more old houses to have thrift sales. _________________ Clad Counter 2010

That is a good idea but what if they are not having a yard sale? How do you approach some to ask permmision?

I'm still working on that one. Anytime that an owner is outside would help. There are a lot of old houses that are just rented now in my area so it makes it even harder to track down the owner. _________________ Clad Counter 2010
