When using mixed mode, when you hear a target response from the all-metal channel but nothing from the discriminate channel and no vdi number showing how accurate are the bars that are showing at the bottom of the display? Anytime this happens to me the bars are always on the left side indicating a ferrous target rather than a conductive target which should be to the right of the middle of the vdi display. Are the "bars" generated solely from the motion mode (discriminate channel)?

According to digging deeper with the DFX when Audio discrimination is set to putting the machine in AM mode the live search screen stays active and is always controlled by the MOTION Mode. So if you are hearing tones in Mixed and your graph is saying iron you probably have iron rejected in the motion mode discrimination.. Accpet -88 to +94 if you want to hear all the motion hits even on the iron side. When I use MM it is with tone ID and Iron accepted and VCO on so I will always know if the signal is motion (sold tones) or non motion VCO.. hope that helps.. Page 90 of DDwtDFX explains how the machine works with AUDIO DISC off (AM mode)
